A cidosis, especially regarding severe pH <7.2, or if the patient doesn’t respond to HCO3.

E lectrolytes: K is something to watch out for.

I ngestions such as ethylene glycol

O verload: if the patient has volume overload which causes pulmonary edema. Lasix, about 150-200mg, can be used in this setting.

U remia, or any symptoms including pericarditis, confusion, and platelet dysfunction. Severe nausea/vomiting is also an indication that is often forgotten.
