Hyperkalemia
- Hyperkalemia
EKG findings in Hyperkalemia: a great mnemonic is to take the lasso on the P, and pull it to the right, causing a flat P, wide WRS, peaked T waves. also a prolonged PR segment.
Treatments
First line:
-Get the EKG! then albuterol(10mg), fluids(D5 and insulin), and +/- bicarb as the fastest acting medications. Furosemide 40mg
-Cacl vs. CaGluconate
CaCL works faster because its an anion, whereas CaGluconate has to be metabolized through the liver.
